Emery turned one on Thursday. We had a great family day. My parents and brother were in town and Will’s parents came in the afternoon. We ate waffles, opened birthday presents in the morning, went toy shopping, went to the pool, and had a nice family dinner complete with birthday cake.
Saturday was her birthday party. Our theme was The Hungry Caterpillar. I had so much fun planning this party (wait til her wedding!) but I couldn’t have gotten it all together without the help of my mom, mother-in-law, dad, Bob, Brett, Jackie, and Will. Everyone had their own part in pulling the day off and keeping Emery happy while we worked. The first birthday party was way more involved than I imagined… but then again I make every time people are coming to our house that way. I have to have things “perfect” and this day was no exception.
Emery had a great time playing with all her friends. I am so bummed I never got a group picture of all the kids, but thanks to Berkley, Olivia, Evie, Abby, Jacob, Melina, Anna, Connor, Dominic, Justin, Dylan, Hayden, and Camden for coming and celebrating with us. We hope you all had a great time and enjoyed the cupcakes.
Final thanks to my brother and Jackie for taking pictures at the party. Without you guys I wouldn’t have any of these shots.
At the end of the day she was up to her eyeballs in gifts which she has really enjoyed. Thanks to all our friends and family who came to help us celebrate our little girl’s first birthday. It means more to us than you know to have such supportive friends and family surround her on her special day.
You are my big beautiful birthday girl. You are the light of my life in every way imaginable and I couldn’t have dreamed up a more perfect daughter. You are perfect just the way you are and I hope you never lose that feeling. I live for your smile, feel at peace when you are sleeping, and feel sad when you cry. You are an extension of my soul, the best pieces of your father and I, and your own special you. Keep smiling when you find something funny, keep trying really hard when you want something badly, and stay excited when you see your Momma or Dada walk in the room.
I love you forever, my baby you’ll be, even if your growing up faster than I like.
Hugs and Kisses Forever,
Last year at this time I was anxiously getting ready for bed and thinking about what the next day would bring. I knew I was going in to the hospital in the morning to have Emery and not knowing how the day would go was killing me, but I wanted her here pronto! Fast forward a year and I am trying to slow time down. All day I could only think about how she isn’t going to be a baby for much longer. Of course she will always be my baby but not A baby. This last year has been the best year of my life. I feel so fulfilled being her mother, it truly is the most rewarding job on this planet. I am so lucky to be able to spend so much time with her but it is going so fast. All mothers say that, there must be something to it.
My goal for her next year is to really presence myself to these moments. She will be walking, talking more, and I’m sure testing my patience and I want to remember it all and take it all in. She officially took her “first step” today. She has been standing more and more on her own this week and today she put one foot in front of the other two times. I wouldn’t exactly say she is walking, far from it, but it a start.
Tomorrow we celebrate!
